Catching Stars Gallery is located in the HUB of Snug Cove - the Heart of Bowen Island. We represent local and regional artists. The Gallery showcases artwork, home décor, gift items, and crafts of professional quality.
We are always looking for different groups of artists!
Members: these are the owners of the Cooperative.
Membership is limited to those who have an interest in becoming a shareholder, take an active role in the governance and administration of the Association, and to reap the benefits of lower commission. Members are eligible to receive year end profits, as well as retain a larger percentage of their art sales.
Artists: Welcome to Catching Stars Gallery! We are a Cooperative Gallery located on Bowen Island and our goal is to provide space for artists to showcase their work and to help elevate the work of artists within our collective.
There are 42 spaces for artists in the Gallery and each space costs $150 per month. Artists receive 70% of all sales of their work with 30% collected Gallery commissions being applied towards the cost of the space. Further, Artists are given the opportunity to contribute to the Gallery through sales coverage which is compensated at a rate of $18 per hour.
Artists will be compensated for the time they are present in the gallery at a rate of $18/hour. That amount will be deducted from the $150/month with the average artist working 6 hours a month. This is ($150- $108 = $42).
Commissions generated from the sale of work will be deducted from the space expense.
Example: if an artist sells $200 during the month, $60 would be applied against the expenses with the remainder held for the artist.
If at the end of the month the full space expense has not been paid through hours worked or commission generated, the remainder will be deducted from the artist's commissions payable. For example: if the same artist above sold $200 with $140 of that being the artist's portion of the commission, but still owed $29 in expenses, this amount would be taken from the commission due with the remaining $111 paid out to the artist.

Feature Artist Opportunity: Artists have the opportunity to showcase their work for 1 month at the Gallery with extra marketing and promotions of their work.
Feature artists receive a larger percentage of their art sales (90%). It is a great opportunity to showcase and sell more of your art, have an event related to the show and introduce new collections to our clientele.
