Liz Watson
Working mostly from images taken while walking or hiking, Liz enjoys capturing the beauty of local landscapes and the flora and fauna where sea meets land. Her work is a blend of realism and impressionism and usually includes an element of the whimsical. Bright colours, shadow and light contrasts and movement are features of her work.
Liz studied Design at Capilano College and Art Education at UBC where she specialized in drawing and painting. But her love for art began on the shores of West Vancouver and Gambier Island where she was encouraged to draw and paint as a young child. Her work has been exhibited at UBC, The Gallery on Bowen and The Hearth Gallery and she has been commissioned for numerous paintings around B.C. She has been creating a line of Bowen Island Greeting cards since moving to Bowen in 1990 with her husband Ian, and she has taught many drawing and painting classes to children, youth and adults.
