Janet Esseiva

Janet Esseiva was born in Cape Town, South Africa, where she studied both art and computer programming. She pursued a career in programming, while continuing her love of painting as a serious hobby. She moved to Canada with her young family in 1998 and now lives on Bowen Island, BC with her husband, Effron, and two daughters.

Janet’s art is sought by international clients and designers, and graces collections on six continents. She loves working with clients to create that perfect piece for their home or business.

Artist Statement

Being an artist means being intensely curious and analytical about your subject matter. I love how the first rays caress a dandelion in the morning. I’m fascinated by the diffused light play on layers of West Coast mist. I paint to immortalize those moments and perhaps capture a little of the essence of the wonderment that I experience.

I paint from my home studio on Bowen Island, and teach and demonstrate on Bowen, in Whistler and on the North Shore.
